Icon_eek A small batch of "getting started" questions from a newb (me)
I have a new CoD4 server and am excited to give MORKEye a try. Thanks for creating and sharing it.

I've read through the MORKEye instructions and just want to make sure I have a few things clear.

I already have a streaming pbbans account which is working fine. That means I've already got a pbucon.use file. My pb_sv_usessionlimit in my pbsv.cfg file is already set to "9" so I should be good there.

1. I want to run MORKEye from my game server, as suggested for best results. Do I just upload the entire "MORKEye v1.07" folder and its contents to my game server so that it is, say, a subfolder of the pb folder? Should it be a subfolder of some other folder? Or does it even matter where I put the folder?

2. Once I've uploaded the files and restarted PB with pb_sv_restart, the instructions say to "Now start MORKEye by double-clicking the MORKEye.exe file..." Does this mean I should use an FTP program to view the file and then just double-click it?

3. Then the instructions say, "3. Enter any available (and unused) port (i.e. 5555 or 8888) into the 'Port' box that corresponds to the 'Your IP' box." How do I know what port on my game server is "available and unused"? Are those suggestions, "5555 or 8888", pretty standard ones that work?

Any feedback appreciated. Looking forward to giving this a try. Thanks again.

OK, I'm going to need some help here. I want to run MORKEye from my game server, not my PC. What is the procedure for doing that? Thanks.

Firstly... v1.07 is an old version... please download & use V2

1. There is no install procedure... simply extract the contents of the zip file to any folder of your choice in any location on your hard drive.

2. No... this means remoting to the server via a remote desktop session and starting the program in the same way that you would start a program on your home PC. Starting it via FTP will not work.

3. I cannot tell you which ports to use... I have found that 5555 & 8888 are mostly unused and therefore available to MORKEye however there are over 65000 ports to choose from... Wink

Thanks very much, Jimbo. I just downloaded the version on top assuming that was the newest one. Sorry about that.

I appreciate your feedback and help. I've downloaded the new version and tried again. I get the five vertical dots, then the Failed message. I will contact Gameservers.com and see about a free port and hope that's the problem.

Thanks again.

Update: Hi. I have contacted gameservers.com and they replied with this:

"Try using any port in between 9000 and 9050. Those ports have been opened for uses like this. That should get you up and running."

I've tried several ports that should work, 9040, 9000, 9049, etc. Still, when I click "Start Monitoring", I get five or six vertical dots, then this message.

PBUCON Failure detected
Stopped.
MORKEye restarting in 10 seconds.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

I don't have a router, just a single PC in my house with a cable connection. Running Windows XP. Is there something I need to adjust? I'm running Zone Alarm and have "allowed" the two MORKEye listings in the program list.

Windows Firewall is OFF. I've tried it with Zone Alarm off as well.

Leave it reconnecting, sometimes it can take up to 25 reconnects/failures and then it runs smoothly.
Check your server the pbucon profile was created:
